Hello!

My name is Sam Gonzalez. I graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 2025 with a major in Communication Design and a minor in Spanish.

I see my role as a conduit of communication between message and client.

My Journey

I had the opportunity to grow up abroad, which has influenced my perspective on the need to communicate between differing cultures, backgrounds, and audiences. I understood at a young age the way culture distorts the lens through which people understand messages in terms of language, visuals, and tone. I had the opportunities to live in Argentina, Belize, and Mexico, as well as around the US.

Bringing this perspective to UC helped me in my education by having the perspective that the world doesn’t end at the horizon, and that every message can be perceived quite differently depending on one’s own personal journey.

The road ahead

In the future I look forward to applying my knowledge and experience of translating messages through graphic design. I am excited for more opportunities to advance my skills in composition, typography, and message crafting in any way I can in future opportunities.

In my own time, I am looking forward to applying my design knowledge to personal art and projects, and continuing to learn about Latin American and Spanish culture and language, as it continues to be an influence on my work and perspective.

Where I Am Now

My life experiences growing up abroad have shaped my perspective on how people communicate, and have inspired me to serve as a conduit for shaping messages in a way that audiences can understand. In this way, I believe design to be an inherently empathetic process.
