← The handbook in its entirety.
The goal of the book was to redefine proportion for design thinking, while justifying the lessons learned through the presentation of the argument. The best way to understand the reason for the handbook’s existence is to read the carefully crafted copy I wrote.
1:1 revisits the definition of proportion from a new perspective in order to reflect on its relationships with math, design, and oneself. This handbook guides the reader through definitions, examples, and use cases for proportion to strengthen the understanding of its role as a foundation to build upon, and grow beyond.
This book is riso printed to emphasize a real application to design process via the multiplication of colors. The page size is of the golden ratio, and is designed to fit in pockets and backpacks as an easy memento to keep around: a physical reminder to keep these principles in mind.

PROBLEM SPACE
Most design students understand that math and design share a close relationship. Despite this, there is a lack of directed education on the application of mathematics for communication designers. This vacancy leads to an under-appreciation for the role that math plays in the foundations of design.
